I wonder if they realized how incredible the lyrics to this song really are when it comes to Chuck and Blair. To me, every word could be Chuck’s in this moment and with him now. He’s held onto this moment between them. Lived for it. It’s kept him alive. It keeps him coming back to her. He won’t let go. Ever. I believe this was the first moment in Chuck’s life where he truly felt.
I hope in the end of it all, when Chuck and Blair have their final scene together, I can only hope it’s in his limo, with Blair sliding across the seat, a smirk on her face as he watches her in the way only he can. She slides her hand over his and nudges his nose with hers and says, “For old time’s sake?” He grins and kisses her. All while a softer version, maybe a cover, of this song plays. And as the film melts away and we see a final glimpse of the city we hear one last sign off….”You know you love me. Xoxo, Gossip Girl.” Before everything goes dark on GG.
You have to admit, it would be a beautiful way to end it all wouldn’t it? But we need to come to terms that it’s not gonna be what we get. Not with Safran holding the reigns. Let’s just hold onto the pretty thought though….
All of the above, it’s been my head canon to have the scene come full circle, song and all. No one will take that perfection away from me.
